Abstract

Gal. Logarithmic CV with logarithmic progression for i is used to determine the maxiBattery test. The method mum current that a battery can supply at its nominal value. The applied current and the battery measured potential are plotted versus time.

Sample

A commercial 3.6 V nominal value battery.
WORK is connected to the positive pole.
REF is connected to the negative pole.
AUX is connected to the negative pole.

Settings - Experimental

Curve examination

Display : Type = Normal X = Time Y1 = Potential Y2 = log(Current)

Use the "Axis" function and the "Cursor" to determine the current which corresponds to 3600 mV.

Conclusion

The maximum current corresponds to the current at which the potential drops below the nominal value of the battery, approximately -1mA.
